Well The Dungeon Runners Dev Team certainly gets an A+ for putting out a patch that has its players cheering and gets MMOFury's Patch of The Week Honors. The "Heave patch" is by far the the best patch that has been released by any game in the recent past, and could be considered by many an expansion without all of the premarketing efforts.

What happens when you mix an online game, new content, and thousands of paying players? The answer seems to be a drop in the server population and a rash of forum griefing. The big question is, “How can a gaming company explore new ideas and strategies in a low stress and comparably low risk environment?”

Historically gaming companies have used test servers to try out new ideas, on players, before implementation into the main server. However, from my own beta testing experience, the content being explored normally isn't that radical and occasionally is only a faux which attempts to cover up other weak ideas that are already coded in.
